“Inn From The Cold” is an established church volunteer program, which provides temporary overnight shelter for the homeless. Priority is given to families and women. St. Patrick’s will provide an “Inn” evening once a month in the parish hall for up to 15 people. The “Inn” evenings are held the second Friday of each month. In addition to filling the volunteer sheet each month, we require a list of backup volunteers in case those who have signed up are unable to attend.

The following briefly describes the duties required for an “Inn” evening:
Set-Up:
Friday 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Set up cots and bedding. Get tables and chairs ready for supper and evening movie.Supper Preparation:
Friday 5:30 pm. Help plan and cook the evening meal. Encouraged to eat meal with guests after they have been served. Food receipts can be turned in if desired for reimbursement.Servers / Visitors / Clean-Up:
Friday 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Help supper preparation crew set-up. See to the needs of the guests an death with them. Clear leftovers. Wash dishes. Clean kitchen. Socialize with guests. (TV will be available for movies. Books and games will be available).Overnight Crew:
Shift #1 Friday 8:30 pm to Saturday 1:00 am. Plan and prepare bag lunches for guests to take. Lock up and secure the church building at night. Ensure guests are comfortable.Shift #2”: Saturday 1:00 am to Saturday 5:30am. Let breakfast crew into the church in the morning.
Breakfast Crew:
Saturday 5:15 am. Plan and prepare breakfast, make coffee, etc. Must be served by 6:30 am at the latest, as the guests leave at 7:00 am. Clean kitchen. Food receipts can be turned in if desired for reimbursement.
Clean-up Crew:
Saturday 7:00 am. Clear away and wipe down cots, pillows, etc. Bag bedding for cleaning. Clean up hall and bathrooms. Set up for Children’s Liturgy. As well as volunteer support, we need at least $150 per month for ongoing operations. We also need baking for deserts and lunches. Toiletries such as toothbrushes, toothpaste and soap are also required. Financial donations over $10 will receive receipts for income tax purposes. Make cheques payable St. Patrick’s Parish and in the memo section of your cheque indicate “Inn From The Cold”.
