CHILDRENS LITURGY: is available at the 5:30 p.m. (Saturday) and 9:30 a.m. / 11:30 a.m. Masses on Sunday, for children 3 – 8 years old. Children’s Liturgy allows the children to hear the Gospel message at a level they understand and enjoy.
Register your child in September when classes begin, or anytime during the year by contacting the Children’s Liturgy Coordinator. Register for the Mass you most often attend; however, if you come to a different Mass, still bring your child downstairs for that Childrens’ Liturgy.
Call the Parish Office for further details
Behavior
Parent/Guardians will be notified of any inappropriate behavior of their child. If the problem can not be rectified, parents/guardians may be asked that the child not attend the program. Fees will not be reimbursed.
Registration
Registration is held two weeks (on the weekend after Masses) prior to the beginning of the program.
Check with the Parish Office for Fee. This fee covers the cost of the program materials only. It is important to register each child so we are able to provide each of them with the proper materials.
You are welcome to fill out the registration form and bring it back with your payment during the registration period.
Each month a bulletin from Children’s Liturgy will be sent home to keep you updated on call topics and holidays. There will be no Children’s Liturgy during Christmas, New Years, Family Day and Easter.
Teachers & Helpers
Our Children’s Liturgy Program could not exist without approximately 50 teachers and numerous helpers who volunteer their time. Our teachers range from Grade 7 students to parents. The teaching schedule is flexible and the lessons are easy to follow. We ask that you consider volunteering your time in this important program.
Parent/Guardians will be asked to choose 2 class dates (per child) in which they can be a helper for the teachers as part of their child’s registration. This program will only be or students in preschool, kindergarten and grade 1. (Teachers are not required to sing up as a helper).
There will be an orientation for teachers in September to introduce the teacher’s guide and the format for the classes. If you with to volunteer please notify the parish office.
Times & Classes
Children’s Liturgy is offered during the following Mass times:
- Saturday 5:00 pm
- Sunday 9:30 am
- Sunday 11:30 am
Children are welcome to attend any of the masses listed above.
St. Patrick’s will be offering four levels for Children’s Liturgy this year.
- Preschool (age 3 by September)
- Kindergarten
- Grade One
- Grade Two / Grade Three
The preschool, kindergarten and grade one students are to be brought downstairs to attend class before the mass begins. The children will remain downstairs to attend until Mass is finished and the Priest has dismissed everyone. At that time parents/guardians can pick up their children.
The 2/3’s will attend the first few minutes of Mass with their parents/guardians until the Priest invites them up to the front of the church for blessing. At that time they will be dismissed by the Priest to attend downstairs for approximately 30 minutes. After the class has finished they will return to their seats during the collection, to attend the rest of the Mass and to receive the Eucharist.
